On 27-29 July, the 14th China International Symposium on Metal Recycling Applications and the 7th Second General Meeting of the China Iron and Steel Scrap Application Association were successfully held at the Century Golden Resources Hotel in Kunming. More than 400 people from upstream and downstream of the whole chain discussed and exchanged views on the market trend of scrap iron and steel and non-ferrous metal scrap, processing, recycling and distribution industry chain, product quality, technological progress, standardisation and construction, and promoted the green and low-carbon development of the industry.

  On the morning of July 28, the seventh second general meeting of China Scrap Iron and Steel Application Association and the third enlarged meeting of the seventh council were first held, and three comrades, including Zhang Kai, director, general manager and secretary of the party branch of Anshan Iron and Steel Scrap Resources (Anshan) Co., Ltd, were co-opted as vice presidents of the seventh council of China Scrap Iron and Steel Application Association, and 24 comrades, including Wang Junbei, chairman of Anyang Rongxue Industrial Co. In the report, Feng He-lin, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of China Scrap Iron and Steel Application Association, briefly introduced the situation of China's scrap iron and steel resources utilization from January 2021 to June 2022, and analyzed the hot issues of the industry, such as the No. 40 document on fiscal tax, the cornerstone plan on resource security, and the creation of a demonstration zone for electric furnace short process steelmaking. He also discussed the Association's ongoing and upcoming research on "National Scrap and Steel Resources", "Treatment and Utilization of Metallurgical Slag (Steel Tailings) in China", industry access and policy dissemination, continuing to promote the "integrated" development of the scrap and steel industry, and the development of group scrap. The conference also included an explanation of the main tasks of the "integrated" development and revision of group standards. Genkichi Ando, Chairman of the International Network Committee, shared that in 2021 Japan will produce 96.334 million tonnes of crude steel and consume 39.952 million tonnes of steel scrap. approximately 9.4 million tonnes of steel scrap will be exported overseas in 2020. It was noted that Japan is now focusing more on electric furnace production and demand for higher grade scrap such as "HS grade" and "forged" is increasing, while "H2 grade" and Exports of overdue scrap such as "crushed scrap" to China are also likely to increase.

However, the level of refined dismantling is not high, the level of comprehensive utilization of resources is low, and the problem of illegal dismantling needs to be solved.
