The proportion of scrap iron and steel application reached 20.2%, achieving the expected target of 20% in the 13th five-year development plan for the scrap iron and steel industry two years ahead of schedule. From January to October this year, the consumption of steel scrap totaled 175 million tons, up 11.4% year on year. Comprehensive single consumption of scrap steel is 211.9kg/ ton, with year-on-year growth of 5.1%. Scrap was 21.2%, up 1 percentage point year on year. When talking about the changes in the international trade in scrap steel resources, li shubin pointed out that the recent market report published by the international bureau of renewable resources recycling also highlights the changes in the global scrap steel market, showing that the international flow of scrap steel is becoming more diversified. Many developing countries hope to build new steel production capacity at home by importing scrap steel. For example, Turkey, India, Vietnam and other countries import scrap steel about one-third of the world's imports of scrap steel. Since August this year, China has changed from an importer of scrap steel to a country with zero scrap imports. Recently, many steel bosses and industry insiders have reacted strongly to the decision to stop importing scrap, arguing that it is wrong to stop importing scrap, the best strategic resource, when iron ore is being imported in large quantities. This is contrary to reducing carbon emissions, reducing industrial solid waste and developing short - process electric furnace steelmaking.
